The temperatures are already getting warmer and there is a hint of spring in the air. This means that it’s almost the perfect time of year for some good, old-fashioned cleaning. Though you’ll probably spend a fair amount of effort decluttering your house and tidying up the yard, make sure you don’t forget about your car. Here are a few tips to help you set about spring cleaning for your car.
Empty it out.
Take everything out of your car, even the things that are supposed to stay. Organize everything into three piles: trash, keep, and put somewhere else.
Clean the upholstery.
Winter leaves it mark on the inside of your car with white salt residue and grime. If you have floor mats, take those out. Use an appropriate upholstery cleaner and clean your interior from top to bottom before continuing on to the carpeting. You can clean the mats quickly by hosing them down and scrubbing them off; just make sure to wait until they are dry before putting them back in.
Wipe it down.
Clean all the hard surfaces, including windows and your dash, using appropriate cleaning products. Be careful around electronics that you do not get them wet, but be sure to clean off any screens, including those in your center stack and instrument panel.
- Once everything is clean, put your items back in your car. Make sure everything has a place, ensuring that your car can stay clean and organized until next spring.
